at the Convention of the Midwest Modern Language Association<\/a> (M-MLA)
\nto be held on 10-13 November 2016 at St. Louis, Missouri<\/h4>\n

The Research Group on Manuscript Evidence, in keeping with the M-MLA conference\u2019s theme of \u201cBorder States,\u201d proposes the following pair of panels on materials in North American collections.<\/p>\n

I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Between Text and Page:\u00a0 Marginalia in Medieval Manuscripts<\/h3>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0 Between Manuscript Page and Printed Page \u2014 And Back Again<\/h3>\n

The panels invite all approaches, including textual, art historical, codicological, and paleographical.<\/p>\n

Interested panelists should send brief abstracts of no more than 300 words to jhastings@luc.edu<\/a> by 5 April 2016.<\/p>\n

For convenience, we maintain a distinction between our Events<\/strong> elsewhere (in various centers in North America and beyond) and our many Congress Activities<\/strong><\/a> over the years at the Annual International Congress on Medieval Studies, likewise with a Congress Archive<\/a>, held at Western Michigan University each May in Kalamazoo.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The pair of panels intended for the 2016 M-MLA Convention represent the first time, apart from the Kalamazoo Congress, that the Research Group sponsors meetings within a conference held in North America.<\/p>\n

We look forward to your contributions to this new stage in the history of the Research Group.<\/p>\n
