Until now, this text has spanned 2 pages, laid out in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fonts.com\/font\/adobe\/adobe-garamond\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Adobe Garamond<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 the font which we chose for our official font (before the creation of <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/bembino\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bembino<\/a>), supplemented by several especially designed characters for Old English, Middle English, and some other cases.<\/p>\n<p>Already by 1990, our <strong>Style Manifesto<\/strong> had taken the shape and structure which it maintained until 2006.\u00a0 During those years, it circulated as a printout among our promotional materials.\u00a0 While the Research Group was based principally in the United Kingdom, its format was A4. \u00a0With the move of our principal base to the United States in 1994, its format became quarto.\u00a0 A specimen appears in <strong>pdf<\/strong> here in the revised version of <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/download\/4652\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>October 1999<\/strong><\/a>, as the Research Group prepared to incorporate as a nonprofit educational organization.<\/p>\n<p>With the publication of Issue 1 (Winter 2006) of our Illustrated Bulletin <a href=\"http:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/shelflife\/\"><strong>ShelfLife<\/strong><\/a>, we published the <strong>Style Manifesto<\/strong> in an illustrated version, likewise laid out in 2 pages and set in <strong>Adobe Garamond<\/strong>, as before, but with double columns per page like the rest of the Bulletin.\u00a0 The accompanying half-page plate reproduces in color the un-cropped image of an opening between facing pages in the 10th-century <strong>Corpus Aldhelm<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20160506012046\/https:\/\/parker.stanford.edu\/parker\/actions\/manuscript_description_long_display.do?ms_no=326\" target=\"_blank&quot;\">Cambridge, Corpus Christi College, MS 326<\/a>, pages 6-7) from a photograph by Mildred Budny.<\/p>\n<h3>Principles in Practice<\/h3>\n<p>Our publications and some co-publications employ the <strong>Style Manifesto<\/strong> in their layout and design.\u00a0 Cases include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Style Manifesto<\/strong> itself, in all its versions,<br \/>\nas in the version of <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/download\/4652\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>October 1999<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/a>and the current version of <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/download\/4660\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>May 2015<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The 2-volume <strong>Illustrated Catalogue<\/strong> of<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170302182810\/http:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/profile\/publications\/insular-anglo-saxon-and-early-anglo-norman-manuscript-art-at-corpus-christi-college-cambridge-1997\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Insular, Anglo-Saxon, and Early Anglo-Norman Manuscript Art <\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170302182810\/http:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/profile\/publications\/insular-anglo-saxon-and-early-anglo-norman-manuscript-art-at-corpus-christi-college-cambridge-1997\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge<\/strong><\/a> (1997),<br \/>\nwith our own design and layout for the text and plates alike<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_1698\" style=\"width: 242px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/EPSON006-MB-Catalogue-Contents-Page-with-border.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1698\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1698 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/EPSON006-MB-Catalogue-Contents-Page-with-border-232x300.png\" alt=\"Contents Page of Illustrated Catalogue of &quot;Insular, Anglo-Saxon, and Early Anglo-Norman Manuscript Art at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge&quot;
