The Societas Magica<\/strong> and the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence<\/strong> held a celebratory Reception<\/strong> at the 49th International Congress on Medieval Studies<\/strong>, at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, to celebrate the anniversaries of both organizations.\u00a0 Since 2006, we two organizations co-sponsor Sessions at this annual Congress.<\/p>\n

Information about these Sessions appears in our list of Co-Sponsored Sessions<\/strong><\/a>, with their programs and with the abstracts of papers in some sessions in our Congress Archive<\/strong><\/a>. \u00a0This year’s Sessions, both sponsored and co-sponsored, are celebrated here: \u00a02014 Congress Accomplished<\/strong><\/a>, along with the Abstracts<\/a> of the Papers and Responses. (The Abstracts are also accessible through our Lists By Author<\/a> or By Year<\/strong><\/a>.)<\/p>\n

This was the first official Reception to be hosted by either organization at the Congress.\u00a0 We hope for more such events.\u00a0 We thank the Societas Magica<\/strong> for its generosity in proposing the reception and preparing the arrangements, cupcakes included.<\/p>\n

The Anniversaries in 2014<\/h2>\n

In 2014 the Societas Magica<\/strong>, founded to hold sessions at the Congress, celebrates twenty years as an organization.\u00a0 The Research Group<\/strong> celebrates twenty-five years as an international scholarly society (founded in Cambridge in the United Kingdom) and fifteen years as a Recognized 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Educational Corporation (incorporated in New Jersey).\u00a0 We also celebrate the steady, and truly collaborative, co-sponsorship of Sessions at the Congress.<\/p>\n

The Reception Invitation<\/strong> (shown here) showcases the logos of both organizations.\u00a0 It is laid out in the RGME font Bembino<\/strong>, with donated design layout according with our style principles.\u00a0 This font is available for download, for free, here: \u00a0Bembino<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Reception gathered together Officers and Members<\/strong> of the Societas<\/strong>, Officers and Associates<\/strong><\/a> of the Research Group<\/strong>, and new Friends and Volunteers<\/strong>. It gave the opportunity, with drinks, cupcakes, and conversation, to meet, greet, and thank the participants of our Congress Sessions over the years, as well as to admire the activities of our organizations, both individually and collaboratively. Cause for celebration, indeed!<\/p>\n
