This appearance followed from the preparations already in hand for a transfer to the United States, as described in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/1994-international-congress-on-medieval-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\">1994 Congress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the months following the 1994 Congress, and with the completion in October of the long-term <strong>Research Project on &#8220;Anglo-Saxon and Related Manuscripts&#8221;<\/strong> at <strong>Corpus Christi College, Cambridge<\/strong>, from which the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence had emerged, the Research Group moved its principal base to the United States \u2014 however, unexpectedly, to Princeton.<\/p>\n<p>Its participation in the 1995 Congress represents its first appearance there as an organization based in North America. Crew Parties&#8217; and Book-Signings.<\/p>\n<p>We resumed our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manuscriptevidence.org\/profile\/sponsored-sessions-at-the-international-congress-on-medieval-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Sponsored Sessions<\/strong><\/a> at the Congress in <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/profile\/publications\" target=\"_blank\">2003<\/a>, with regular appearances from then onwards.\u00a0 Soon our practice extended also to include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/profile\/co-sponsored-sessions-at-the-international-congress-on-medieval-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Co-Sponsored Sessions<\/strong><\/a> (2006\u2013), in collaboration with several organizations, starting with the <a href=\"http:\/\/societasmagica.org\" target=\"_blank\">Societas Magica<\/a>.\u00a0 Over time, we added the traditions of Business Meetings, <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/ghent-seals-gallery\/rgme-posters-display\/\" target=\"_blank\">Poster Displays<\/a> (starting with the 2011 Congress), and co-sponsored Receptions (starting with our <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2014-anniversary-reception\" target=\"_blank\">2014 Anniversary Reception<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/category\/international-congress-on-medieval-studies-at-western-michigan-university\/\" target=\"_blank\">Archive of <strong>Congress Activities<\/strong><\/a> records these proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Starting in 2006, our first website (formerly at <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">http:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/data\/<\/span>, updated to this website in 2014) announced the stages for the preparations and accomplishment of each Congress on a single Page, with updates as the work progressed. Thus that Page reflected only the current, or most recent, stage, while the earlier stages &#8216;disappeared&#8217; behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p>However, with our redesigned website (2014\u2013), we can record the different stages of preparation for, and accomplishment of, a given Congress through a series of blogposts.\u00a0 Reflecting the progress through the year, starting with 2014, they may advance, for example,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>from the <strong>Proposed Events<\/strong> and the <strong>Call for Papers<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>through the <strong>Program Schedule<\/strong>, with<strong> Updates and the Abstracts of Papers, <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>to the <strong>Report<\/strong> of the Congress as accomplished, sometimes also with a Report of the <strong>Reception<\/strong> (as for <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2014-anniversary-reception\/\" target=\"_blank\">2014 Anniversary Reception<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2015-reception\/\" target=\"_blank\">2015<\/a>) and a <strong>Report Behind the Scenes<\/strong> (as for <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/doctor-who-done-it\/\" target=\"_blank\">2016<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is also possible to exhibit the Posters for a given Congress (since 2011) not only within the Report for that Congress but also in our Gallery of <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/ghent-seals-gallery\/rgme-posters-display\/\" target=\"_blank\">Posters on Display<\/a>, which now includes Posters for our other <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/events-list\/\" target=\"_blank\">Events<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n<p>*****<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>30th International Congress on Medieval Studies 4-7 May 1995 [First published on 9 August 2014, with updates] At the 1995 Congress, the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence sponsored one Session.
