Photography by Mildred Budny.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>1) &#8220;The Director&#8217;s Cut&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><em>Highlights of RGME activities since Issue 1, described by our Director<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Between Issue 1 (Volume 1, Number 1 for Autumn 2014) and Issue 2 (Volume 2, Number 1 for Winter 2022\u20132023), we greatly developed the scope of our redesigned <strong>Website,<\/strong> with active blogs on <strong>Manuscript Studies<\/strong> and on our activities at the <strong>International Congress on Medieval Studies<\/strong> (ICMS).\u00a0 The website describes our projects and publications, offers galleries of images, and reports our events.\u00a0 It also provides open access to many of our <strong>Publications<\/strong>, including our own multi-lingual font <strong>Bembino<\/strong> (now in Version 1.6).<\/p>\n<p>Besides our sponsored and co-sponsored <strong>Sessions<\/strong> (as well as <strong>Receptions<\/strong> and <strong>Open Business Meetings<\/strong>) at the ICMS, developments include organizing <strong>Symposia<\/strong> and other events, for which we began to publish <strong>Posters<\/strong> and illustrated <strong>Booklets<\/strong>.\u00a0 New genres also have emerged:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">1) <strong>Research Booklets<\/strong> and<strong> Program Booklets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">2) <strong>Interviews<\/strong> and <strong>Surveys<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">3) A <strong>Gallery<\/strong> of specimens (mostly hitherto unpublished) for <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/watermarks-and-the-history-of-paper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Watermarks and the History of Paper<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">4)<strong> Episodes<\/strong> for &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/the-research-group-speaks-the-series\" target=\"&quot;_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Research Group Speaks<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">5) <strong>Pre-Congress Business Meetings<\/strong>, held online for our wider audience<\/p>\n<p>Since 2020, when our Spring Symposium had to be cancelled, we turned at first, after publishing its Program Booklet anyway, to reporting a backlog of discoveries for our blog on <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/manuscript-studies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manuscript Studies<\/a>.\u00a0 By 2021, our online activities began in May with the revived ICMS (cancelled in 2020) and a Pre-Congress Business Meeting to plan beforehand.\u00a0 In July, an online Interview with Barbara Williams Ellertson (about her interests in books and the formation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/basiraproject.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BASIRA Project<\/a>) launched the series wherein &#8220;The Research Group Speaks&#8221;.\u00a0 By November 2022, the series had reached Episode 9; more are planned.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, we resumed our Symposia, online, before the opportunity for in-person events returns.\u00a0 For the first time, we held two Symposia in a single year.\u00a0 Thus began the paired <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2022-spring-and-autumn-symposia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spring and Autumn Symposia<\/a> devoted to a shared theme:\u00a0 &#8220;Structured Knowledge&#8221; in 2022, and, planned for 2024, &#8220;Materials and Access&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 With the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2022-autumn-symposium-on-supports-for-knowledge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2022 Autumn Symposium<\/a>, we resumed the preparation and publication of its illustrated Booklet, in 54 pages.<\/p>\n<p>Issue 2 of the RGME Newsletter joins this spirit, and this accomplishment, of revivals.\u00a0 They form part of the work toward 2023 and beyond.\u00a0 For our Anniversary Year in 2024, the RGME would celebrate<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">1) 25 years as a nonprofit educational corporation, officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization based in Princeton, New Jersey<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">2) 35 years as an international scholarly society, founded in the United Kingdom as part of a collaborative research project (1987\u20131994) at Corpus Christi College in the University of Cambridge<\/p>\n<p>Like Issue 1  , Issue 2 offers the opportunity to celebrate and advance our activities.<\/p>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2797 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/ShelfMarks-1-on-31-Oct-2014-done-Bouquet-List-Heading-1024x565.png\" alt=\"&quot;The Bouquet List: A Gathering of Books&quot;, a review by Mildred Budny with motto: &quot;A Rose by Another Name is a Bouquet of n Circles&quot;
