Image via Wikimedia, Public Domain.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>Episode 1<\/h3>\n<p>The series commenced with an Interview with our Associate, <a href=\"https:\/\/basiraproject.org\/the-basira-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barbara Williams Ellertson<\/a>\u00a0 (July 2021).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Barbara spoke about the BASIRA Project, its background, and her other interests.\u00a0 For information about the Project on <strong><em>Books as Symbols in Renaissance Art<\/em><\/strong>, its subjects, its scope, and its aims, see <a href=\"https:\/\/basiraproject.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/basiraproject.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/barbara-williams-ellertson-and-BASIRA-with-a-timeline\">Barbara Williams Ellertson and BASIRA, with a Timeline<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Episode 2<\/h3>\n<p>Next came a Presentation and Demonstration by the food historian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seriouseats.com\/linda-civitello-5118846\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Linda Civitello<\/a> (September 2021).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Linda spoke about the early history of Italian cuisine, especially <i>Cuoco Napolitano<\/i>, and its ingredients, sources, and influences \u2014 for Southern Italian cuisine and beyond. Inspired by the 15th-century sources in manuscript and early printing, Linda described approaches to the subject and gave a demonstration.<\/p>\n<p>See <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/southern-italian-cuisine-before-columbus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southern Italian Cuisine Before Columbus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Episode 3<\/h3>\n<div>Then we offered an informal round-table discussion, to compare notes about searching bibliographic materials in a time of pandemic (November 2021).<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>We call it:\u00a0 <strong>&#8220;Tales from the Library\u00a0Crypt&#8221;<\/strong>. Inspired, in part, by episodes of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tales_from_the_Crypt_(TV_series)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tales from the Crypt<\/a>, with books often in view, we recall that in a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Crypt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crypt<\/a> might reside relics, secrets, and treasures.\u00a0 Similarly, the vaults of libraries might shelter, or hide, treasures and secrets in its collection.
