{"id":11813,"date":"2019-07-24T21:58:07","date_gmt":"2019-07-24T21:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/?p=11813"},"modified":"2021-01-23T00:27:55","modified_gmt":"2021-01-23T00:27:55","slug":"heidere-diplomas-and-investiture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/heidere-diplomas-and-investiture\/","title":{"rendered":"Heidere Diplomas &#038; Investiture"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Celebration of Collegiality<\/h2>\n<p>Our tradition over the years in the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence, from our earliest days, is to thank people who have contributed to our mission and activities by inviting them to join our group of Honorary Invited Associates.\u00a0 Our <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/profile\/officers-associates-and-volunteers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associates<\/a> belong to different walks of life, both educational and beyond in the wider world, as their accomplishments and interests amply demonstrate.<\/p>\n<h3>The Associates in Early Years, Listed on Our Letterhead<\/h3>\n<p>At first, we listed our Associates on our Letterhead\u00a0\u2014once we had chosen our name, selected our official Font, designed our Logo, laid out our official Letterhead, and accomplished related tasks\u00a0\u2014 as shown, for example, in some Invitation Letters to the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/seminars-on-the-evidence-of-manuscripts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seminars and Workshops<\/a> during our years as a group emerging from our innovative Research Project at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corpus.cam.ac.uk\/about-corpus\/parker-library\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">The Parker Library of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge<\/a> . and with &#8216;appearances&#8217;.<\/p>\n<h3>A Special Case, Diplomas Included<\/h3>\n<p>Between those stages, there arose a new and special case when we invited James Heidere to become an Associate of the Research Group.\u00a0 He accepted the invitation, and asked for a Diploma.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to his convivial style, we made sure to provide a Diploma worthy of framing and displaying among his other Diplomas, while we also thought that a larger version might be worthy of the competition.\u00a0\u00a0 Also, with one large-size version, why not make two?\u00a0 And so, and lo.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>The Diplomas<\/h2>\n<p>Here, in response to his request, are the Versions of Jim&#8217;s RGME Diplomas.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did we think that he deserved an enlarged Diploma, better to stand out on his wall of diplomas, we also believed that, given his and our spirit, he ought to have a comparable outlandish version, puns included.\u00a0 The choice of a dramatic border with interlace patterns for a frame seemed obvious.<\/p>\n<p>And so:<\/p>\n<h3>The Official Version<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_7499\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7499\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7499 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Diploma1-at-100-dpi-1024x657.jpg\" alt=\"The official version of the Diploma for James J. \/><\/h3>\n<h3>The Diploma Display<\/h3>\n<p>The framed diplomas took there place on the Dentist Office Wall and on the Kitchen Wall, by turns, as I can attest, having seen the in both places.\u00a0 In fact, sometimes they changed places, with the Official and the Unoffocial Versions turning up otherwise.\u00a0 Occasionally, my own copy might appear in a Research Group celebration, as at a party at the home of our Associates David Immerman and Pamela Jones, where Jim posed beside one of his Diplomas.\u00a0 The Official one, as might be.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1728\" style=\"width:
