Shailor<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/schoenberginstitute.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies<\/a><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"gmail_default\"><strong>The Plan<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"gmail_default\">In 2019 the Research Group on Manuscript [and Other] Evidence celebrates 20 years as a nonprofit educational corporation based in Princeton, and 30 years as an international scholarly society founded at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corpus.cam.ac.uk\/about-corpus\/parker-library\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Parker Library of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge<\/a>.\u00a0 Across the years, we have engaged in multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/events-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">events<\/a> in many places, over multiple manuscripts and other original sources, and on a broad range of subjects.\u00a0 We celebrate our friends, colleagues, hosts, donors, volunteers, and subjects of study.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail_default\">As part of these celebrations, we announce our Anniversary Symposium at Princeton University, host of many of our events over the years.\u00a0 This event takes place on Friday afternoon 26 April and Saturday 27 April 2019.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"gmail_default\">The Events<\/h3>\n<p class=\"gmail_default\">On Friday afternoon the 26th, there will be a set of classes and a session, also followed by a Reception nearby.\u00a0 One class is given by Eric White, Curator of Rare Books, in <a href=\"https:\/\/rbsc.princeton.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Special Collections at Firestone Library<\/a>, revealing &#8220;New Findings in Old Bindings&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 Eric has agreed to repeat his class in 2 sittings, so as to allow more participants to attend, given the limit of 20 people for each class.\u00a0 Another class, limited to 15 people, will take place over a selection of medieval and early modern manuscript fragments in the <a href=\"https:\/\/artmuseum.princeton.edu\/collections\/601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princeton University Art Museum<\/a>.\u00a0 To register for either class and the other events, please see below (<strong>Registration<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"gmail_default\">On Saturday the 27th, a day&#8217;s sessions of papers and panels occur in 106 <a href=\"http:\/\/m.princeton.edu\/map\/detail?feed=91eda3cbe8&amp;group=princeton&amp;featureindex=0039&amp;category=91eda3cbe8%3AALL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McCormick Hall<\/a>, accompanied by breaks for coffee and lunch, and followed by a Reception at the <a href=\"http:\/\/ima.princeton.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Index of Medieval Art<\/a>\u00a0(also in McCormick Hall).\u00a0 This Reception will include displays of manuscript and early printed materials brought by participants from their own collections.\u00a0 Some of our earlier events have showcased such materials, for example in a Research Group seminar held in the same room at the Index:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2014-seminar-on-manuscripts-and-their-photographs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2014-seminar-on-manuscripts-and-their-photographs\/\">Manuscripts and Their Photographs<\/a> .<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3098\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3098\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3098 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Henry-Fiona-at-ShowTell-seminar-9-Dec-2014-1024x678.jpg\" alt=\"Inspecting the despoiled Book of Hours at our 'Show &amp; The present location of that despoiled leaf is unknown.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>The Theme<\/h3>\n<p>Our 2019 Anniversary Symposium takes inspiration from its session organized by Barbara A. Shailor, showcasing case-studies at Yale University, on \u201cThe Peregrinations of Manuscripts:\u00a0 Origin, Provenance, or Both\u201d.\u00a0 Our program and curated displays demonstrate myriad challenges and opportunities for assessing the origins, travels, and arrivals of manuscripts, documents, and rare books. The focus centers upon selected medieval and early modern materials, both Western and non-Western.
