href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/congress-activities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Annual International Congress on Medieval Studies<\/a><\/h4>\n<p>At this Congress, held each May at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, we hold an Open Business Meeting and sponsor and co-sponsor Sessions, as well as a Reception.\u00a0 After the cancellation of the 2020 Congress, the Congress in both 2021 and 2022 has been held online.\u00a0 Whereas the Open Business Meetings can take place online, the Receptions are postponed until they might occur, once again, in person.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2022 Congress (online)<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2022-international-congress-on-medieval-studies-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" issued the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2020-international-congress-on-medieval-studies-call-for-papers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Call for Papers<\/a> (CFP) and proposed the programs for these Sessions.\u00a0\u00a0 As the date approached, the entire Congress had to be cancelled.\u00a0 See <a Psalm 101 begins with the initial &#8216;d&#8217; for &#8216;Domini&#8217;.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>The Newest Version of Our Multi-Lingual Font <em>Bembino<\/em> and Its Companion Booklet<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>We launch the next version of our multi-lingual digital font <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/bembino\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bembino<\/a>:\u00a0 Following the launch of <strong>Version 1.4<\/strong> (April 2017) and <strong>Version 1.5<\/strong> (April 2018), we progressed to <strong>Version 1.6<\/strong> (January 2019). Booklet Cover<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/bembino\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bembino<\/a>, we also offer a booklet (published in March 2018), to stand alongside the \u201cBembino\u201d Booklet which describes and illustrates the Font.\u00a0 The newer Booklet, <em>Multi-Lingual Bembino<\/em>, shows examples of the font typeset in multiple languages.<\/p>\n<p>In 24 pages, this booklet contains examples of some of the wide range of languages that can be typeset using the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/bembino\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Bembino\u2019<\/a> font.\u00a0 The chosen text is the same for all examples: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Book_of_Exodus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exodus<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus+20&amp;version=KJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chapter 20 verses 1\u201317<\/a>, one of the sets of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ten_Commandments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Ten Commandments\u2019<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Old_Testament\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Old Testament<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The exemplified languages appear in alphabetical order by their English name (so <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Welsh_language\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Welsh\u2019<\/a> rather than \u2018Cymraeg\u2019), from &#8216;Afrikaans&#8217; our next Anniversary Year.<\/p>\n<h3>The Annual Appeal<\/h3>\n<p>Our Annual Appeals address our needs, activities, and plans, focusing upon the current state of activities and aims.<\/p>\n<p>For example, preparing for 2019, our Appeal focused upon the Anniversary celebrations.\u00a0 Its approach drew upon the success of our 2018 Appeal.\u00a0 Preparing for 2018, the end-of-year <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/download\/10397\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017 Annual Appeal Letter<\/a> describes our activities, goals, requirements, and wishes for donations in funds and in kind.\u00a0 In 2019, for the first time, we also held an Appeal online through our Director\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/donate\/1152594261538642\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"broken_link\">Giving Tuesday Fundraiser<\/a>.\u00a0 These Appeals have been renewed each year, along with our Director&#8217;s Birthday Fundraiser through from 2020 onward, the Appeals of 2021 and 2022 additionally incorporate requests for support for the development of our online events.\u00a0 These events include the series of episodes for <a Beinecke Library<\/h3>\n<p>The Takamiya Collection of <em>Medieval English Manuscripts<\/em> assembled by our Associate Toshiyuki Takamiya over decades since 1968 has now moved to the Beinecke Library at Yale, where it finds a welcoming home.\u00a0 In 2017, this transfer yields an impressive series of events and an illustrated catalogue in full color:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an exhibition at the Library showcases highlights of this collection together with selected manuscripts in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library: <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20180609045110\/http:\/\/beinecke.library.yale.edu:80\/exhibitions\/making-english-book\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Making the Medieval English Book<\/a>, on display from 1 September to 10 December 2017,<\/li>\n<li>an associated conference on 6\u20137 October 2017 focuses on the scope of the collection, with contributions by numerous experts (including some Associates of the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence, among them Toshiyuki Takamiya himself): <a href=\"http:\/\/beinecke.library.yale.edu\/about\/news\/making-english-book-conference-october-6-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conference<\/a>, and<\/li>\n<li>a published catalogue illustrates and describes the collection:\u00a0 Raymond Clemens, Diane Ducharme, and Emily Ulrich, <em>A Gathering of Medieval English Manuscripts: The Takamiya Collection at the Beinecke sort or another<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/a-reused-part-leaf-from-bedes-homilies-on-the-gospels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Part-Leaf from Bede&#8217;s <em>Homilies on the Gospels<\/em><\/a>, with the identification of a fragment from a 14th-century copy, perhaps made in France, of Bede&#8217;s <em>Homily<\/em> II, 6, on Mark
