the French translation of Bakhouche, Fauquier, and P\u00e9rez-Jean; and the more recent English translation of Greer and Warnock)<\/li>\n<li>some highlights of new discoveries that feature in the introductory material (e.g., new details in the study of psychotropic ingredients in the <em>Picatrix<\/em>\u2019s rituals<\/li>\n<li>what portrait one can paint of the \u201ctypical\u201d <em>Latin Picatrix<\/em> reader\/user based on a compiled list of ritual objectives identified in the text)<\/li>\n<li>and also an examination of both the methods used and the results obtained for the identification of specific ingredients and other ritual elements that previous editors and translators had either left untranslated or misunderstood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>*****<\/p>\n<p>Note: See also the Abstract for the Paper in this same 2018 Session by our Associate David Porreca&#8217;s Co-Editor for the new translation: <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/abstracts\/attrell-2018-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\">Attrell (2018 Congress)<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>Also, you know, both these Authors spoke about aspects of their study of the subject, in the making, at our co-sponsored Session at the 2013 Congress.\u00a0 As described in our announcement for the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/2013-international-congress-on-medieval-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\">2013 International Congress on Medieval Studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, Dan spoke about &#8220;High Times:\u00a0 Astral Magic and the Curious World of Psychoactive Substances in the <em>Picatrix<\/em>&#8220;, whilst David opined on the subject of &#8220;What Motivated Magic?\u00a0 The <em>Picatrix<\/em> as a Sample of Social History&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/poster-2013-Astrology-Magic-7-May-2013-with-border.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-928 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/manuscriptevidence.org\/wpme\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/poster-2013-Astrology-Magic-7-May-2013-with-border.png\" alt=\"Poster for &quot;Astrology and Magic&quot;
